If you want a bright, low power flashlights, then LED flashlights are the way to go.  The Streamlight 88031 fits into this category perfectly.

This flashlight has been available for a few years now. If you end up purchasing this from Amazon, you typically save a lot of money relative to the list price.

Great flashlight for those that want and need a relatively bright flashlight while keeping the weight light, about 2.8 ounces per the manufacturer.

Basic LEDs have a number of advantages over conventional light. They typically last longer and the durability is superb. It is not surprising to have a guarantee of at least 100000 hours of life for an LED battery. Where they are lacking is typically in brightness. Not the Streamlight 88031. Streamlight uses what they call C4 Photonic Crystal technology along with a reflector to get about three times the brightness and beam intensity. Really the best of both worlds at a fair price. This light uses two 3 volt CR123A lithium batteries (included) that delivers 180 lumens of light on high for about 2.5 hours and 10 lumens on low for 10 hours. There is also a strobe mode that can run for 6 hours on one charge.

The flashlight has a IPX7 rating which means it is waterproof to 1 meter (3 feet) for up to 30 minutes. Should then come as no surprise that it has an O ring sealed tempered glass lens that is impact resistant. I already mentioned that the weight is less than 3 ounces, the Protac measures 4.7 inches and has a narrow 0.77 inch barrel.

One feature to note is the anti-roll head. There have been reports that the flats on the head are maybe a little too subtle - they don't do a great job preventing rolling. Still, the flashlight comes with a removable pocket clip that will do the trick and stop the flashlight from rolling dead in its tracks.

This solid flashlight backs a wallop - bright and light and tight. By tight, I mean compact ... just wanted to use a word that fit with bright and light.
