Leki has a well deserved reputation for high quality poles and the Leki Corklite Aergon SpeedLock Trekking Poles are no exception.

These poles have been available for a few years now and can be purchased online at a number of sites including Amazon and REI or offline at traditional stores.

Best for the outdoor person hiking any time of year that want a solid, not heavy, easily adjustable pole that are compact when not is use. Especially useful trekking poles when the conditions are less than ideal, like rocky terrain and or cold temperature, these will pay for themselves in convenience.

Leki makes great poles, period. From the grips to the straps to the adjustments to the material, these poles are excellent. The grips on these poles is well thought out. First thing to notice is that the grips have an "edgeless" shape. What this means is that there are no hard edges, no rough positions, pressure and weight from your hands are distributed over the grip more evenly. That might not sound like a great thing, believe me when I tell you that after backpacking all day over rough terrain that any improvement in ergonomics is going to be greatly appreciated. Additionally, there is a slight offset in the grips position relative to the pole. About a 8 degree positive offset. This results in a grip position that is easier and more efficient for pole swing. Again, another small feature that pays off over time. Next up is the Speedlock external locking system. A lot of poles use a twist locking system. Unfortunately, twist locking systems lend themselves to over tightening and ultimately damaging the poles. With an external flick locking system that the Speedlock provides you are able to make adjustments to the height quickly and easily no matter what the conditions are - especially in the cold weather where fumbling around with gloves on is the norm. These flick locks are a bit heavier than traditional twist locks, but the slight weight penalty is more than offset by the ease of use factor.

The aluminum alloy poles with thin shaft wall keep the weight down by about 20 percent relative to regular aluminum poles with sacrificing loss of strength. Again, one of those things that pays off in comfort over the long haul. The Leki straps are of very high quality. A lot of double stitching to prevent ripping. They are contoured to fit in your hands easily. My preference is to slip my hand in from the bottom, grab the strap and the grip. This gives you the ability to swing the poles easily without having to grip the poles with a tight grip.

The Leki poles are coated with a scratch resistance surface and come with carbide tip ends that dig into ice and rocky trails well.

These poles are recommended for the year round hiker that travels over varied terrain. The high quality tubing, ergonomic grip design, easy adjusting length system make these Leki Corklite trekking poles a highly recommended pair.
