Nothing like a good set of hiking poles to take the “edge” off when backpacking.  You know what I mean, walking downhill for miles with a 35 pounds backpack.  The men’s Komperdell C3 Airshock trekking poles give your knees some “relief” from bearing ALL of the weight.  Trust me, your knees will thank you when you start using poles when out backpacking.

Komperdell makes a wide range of products from gloves to underwear, like pants and shirts, to protective sports clothing to poles. The men's C3 Airshock poles are part of their Advanced family of poles that include the C3 along with the Explorer. There are a number of sites online where you can buy these with Amazon being one.

These are 100% carbon light weight poles that come with the Power Lock II. Komperdell says the Power Lock II provides 90% more retention power. Now if you are a previous Komperdell pole owner you might be wondering what is wrong with the poles you have. Probably nothing. Just think of it as constantly improving the product.

Let's start with the Power Lock II mechanism. This is a well designed locking system that features a curved lever that pinches the "grip" (for lack of a better word) around the pole to hold it in place. It is designed to work well even if you are wearing gloves in cold weather. Once you get past a certain point when snapping the level closed, the lever moves easier and easier to the locking point. Just like a good locking mechanism should and why it is relatively easy to operate in harsh conditions. Who wants to be screwing around out in the cold (and dark) in the snow trying to adjust your poles? One thing to note. Hopefully this doesn't come as a surprise to anyone, when you adjust the pole length make sure you use the same settings for both adjustments. For instance, if you set the length to 125cm on the upper section, make sure you set the length to 125cm on the lower section. This will make sense when you get the poles in your hands for the first time. The grips are made of comfortable EVA foam. Even more impressive is the quality of the straps. Not to make comparisons ... but I will, these straps are similar to the Leki straps. They are contoured to fit well and have some heavy duty stitching that will keep these in good shape for a long time.

These lightweight trekking poles for men from Komperdell provide cushioning on those long backpacking trips that the rest of your body will thank you for.
