With a name like Bad Elf, your expectations for a quality product might be low.  Disregarding the company name and focusing on the product, the reviews are good.

This product became available for purchase online at Amazon in September 2012. Amazon typically has this in stock and can fill orders relatively quickly. If you like what you see, I suggest moving on it.

This small hand held GPS device is great for jet pilots , general aviation pilots, a family on a road trip, and geocachers. Geocachers especially will like this based on the size and the accuracy - to about nine feet, 2.5 meters. Even bicycle riders who don't mind slipping this unit into a pocket will find this GPS handy.

GPSs have improved a lot over the last few years relatively to battery life. There is nothing more frustrating that having a GPS die on you when the battery gets drained. Fortunately I was never in a situation where the GPS was critical. The Bad Elf 2200 operates for up to thirty five hours in stand alone data logging mode. That drops to about sixteen hours with Bluetooth capability active in paired mode. Keep in mind that operating temperature will have an impact on battery life regardless of which mode your are operating in. In general, cold temperatures will drain a battery faster than warmer temperatures. Speaking of paired mode, the 2200 GPS Pro can simultaneously connect up to five devices via Bluetooth. This means you can be using an IPhone, IPad, IPod with this and all of those devices can connect.

The display is a backlit LCD, green with black characters. On the screen you will be able to tell at a glance how good the satellite connection is, how much data logging capacity has been used, information about your location including heading, altitude, speed and the accuracy (accurate to about 9 feet), and, of course, time. You will find that this is an easy to carry GPS that fits in the palm of your hand. It only measures three inches, by two and a half inches by seven tenths of an inch. To make it easy to tote around, included is detachable neck lanyard.

If a fast locking, accurate, portable GPS is on your wishlist, then ...
